Job Summary
We are an aviation and tourism company based in Anchorage seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. In this full-time, on-site role, you will manage a broad range of accounting functions – from processing payroll and handling accounts payable/receivable to reconciling accounts and analyzing financial statements. You will also support basic HR duties, including assisting with employee onboarding and maintaining personnel records. This position is critical to ensuring our financial accuracy and smooth operational support, working closely with both the finance and HR teams.
Responsibilities
· Process Payroll: Administer bi-weekly payroll (experience with Paychex is a plus).
· Employee Onboarding & HR Support: Coordinate onboarding, set up employees in systems, and maintain records.
· Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage full cycle AP and AR, including invoicing and vendor payments.
· Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements using QuickBooks Online.
· Financial Statement Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports.
· General Accounting Duties: Maintain general ledger, post journal entries, assist with month/year-end closing.
· Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensure compliance and organize financial documentation.
Other Duties: Support additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
· Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
· Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
· Familiarity with payroll processing; Paychex experience is a plus.
· Understanding of financial statements and GAAP principles.
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· CPA or CMA certification.
· Hands-on experience with Paychex or similar payroll software.
· Experience in aviation, travel, or tourism industries.
· Prior exposure to HR-related tasks.
