James Bates Brannan Groover LLP, a leading law firm with offices in Macon, Atlanta, and Athens, Georgia, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide litigation and transactional support in our Athens office.

As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting multiple attorneys by managing a variety of administrative and legal support responsibilities. This position requires a highly organized, proactive professional who exercises sound judgment, maintains strict confidentiality, and consistently produces accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and committed to providing outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys across litigation and transactional practice areas.
- Draft, edit, proofread, and finalize correspondence, legal documents, pleadings, agreements, presentations, and other work product.
- Prepare, revise, and process attorney time entries.
- Open, maintain, and organize electronic and physical client files.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate conference calls, and arrange travel.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and other professionals.
- Review documents for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency before distribution.
- Prepare and process monthly client billing.
- Prepare expense reports and reimbursement requests.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of legal assistant experience, preferably in a law firm.
- Experience supporting litigation, transactional, or multiple practice areas preferred.
- Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior grammar, proofreading, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
- Experience with legal document management and time and billing software is a plus.
