Maintenance Technician – Peoria Advanced Campus

Compensation: $18 – $26 per hour (DOE)

Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to providing safe, structured, and high-quality learning environments for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and safety of the Peoria Advanced campus. This role is responsible for maintaining school facilities, responding to maintenance requests, and ensuring a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and families.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining high professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance & Repairs

Perform general maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, painting, landscaping, and minor construction.

Maintain school facilities including classrooms, restrooms, cafeteria spaces, and outdoor areas.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.

Assist with larger campus improvement projects as needed.
Safety & Compliance

Maintain a safe working environment and follow all safety and chemical handling regulations.

Support campus security by ensuring proper care and storage of tools, equipment, and facilities.

Identify potential safety concerns and recommend solutions to campus leadership.
Inventory & Equipment Management

Maintain inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies.

Track and document maintenance activities and repairs.

Provide recommendations to administration regarding equipment repair or replacement.

Collaborate with external vendors and contractors when necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, facilities, or related experience.

Ability to perform a variety of hands-on repair and maintenance tasks.

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate professionally with staff and leadership.

Ability to pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
