Purpose:
To serve as a friend/companion, helping patients, loved ones or caregivers with emotional, social, and other needs assigned. Essential Duties:
1.The patient care volunteer will provide support for the patient, loved ones or caregivers under the direction and supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator or Support Services Director.
2.Documentation will be accurate and timely.
3.Promotes and practices patients, loved ones and caregivers, personal and environmental safety while performing job duties.
4.Participates in monthly and yearly education to provide competent support to patients, loved ones and caregivers and to promote professional growth.
5.Displays professionalism in the work environment through dress code etiquette and speech.
6. Performs related duties as agreed to by the Volunteer Coordinator or Support Services Director.
Description:
1.Provide respite care for patients loved ones or caregivers.
2.Provide companionship to patients.
3.Read or complete activities with patients.
4.Assist in meal prep alongside patients, loved ones, or caregivers.
5.Assist in light housekeeping alongside patients, loved ones, or caregivers.
6.Assist with other support needs with approval from Volunteer Coordinator or Support Services Director.
Minimum Requirements:
1.Complete application, background check, health screening, Tuberculosis Test and Volunteer Orientation.
2.Able to make a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week.
3.Maintains open communication with other team members, reporting events or changes of concern to Volunteer Coordinator or Support Services Director.
4.Attending volunteer support meetings and education as needed.
5.Complete mandatory training annually.
Qualifications:
- Compassionate, reliable, and professional
- Strong commnication and listening skills
- Interest in healthcare, nursing, or social services (preferred)
- Must be 18+
- Background check required
Additional Details:This is a non-clinical, non-paid opportunity focused on community service and professional development. Training is provided.
