Position Summary
The Sales Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for precision CNC machined components. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality, this position evaluates customer RFQs, determines manufacturing methods, and develops competitive pricing while ensuring customer requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and purchase requirements.
- Prepare accurate estimates for labor, machine time, raw materials, tooling, outside processing, and overhead costs.
- Evaluate machining methods for CNC milling, turning, and secondary operations.
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to validate production methods and cycle times.
- Utilize SolidWorks to review part models and support the estimating process.
- Obtain supplier quotations for raw materials and outside services, including plating, heat treating, anodizing, and other special processes.
- Prepare and submit timely quotations.
- Respond to customer questions regarding quotations and technical requirements.
- Maintain estimating history and continuously improve estimating accuracy.
- Collaborate with Program Management, Purchasing, Production, and Quality to support customer requirements.
- Support AS9100 quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in precision CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and the ability to review and interpret 3D part models.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications.
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes, materials, tooling, and outside processing.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (JobBOSS experience is a plus).
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
