Duties
The duties below outline the general responsibilities associated with this position. Each of these duties is considered critical to effective department operations and our Mission. It is expected that all staff in this position will have satisfactory attendance and will perform these duties as assigned in a competent, cooperative, and timely manner. The Job Description will be reviewed periodically for accuracy and/or adjusted according to business necessity.
Responds promptly to requests for assistance from residents.
Assists assigned residents with AM/PM care as required (including but not limited to: skin care, nail care, hair care, mouth care, dressing, and general grooming/hygiene activities.
Assists with bathing, showers, and bed bath as per schedule or resident request.
Assists with toileting as required.
Assists with proper use of eyeglasses, hearing aids, and dentures as required by residents.
Transporting residents as assigned and assisting with admission, discharge and transfer of residents.
Observes residents for overall health and well-being and promptly reports all changes/concerns to nurse.
Completes all documentation in a meaningful and accurate manner as per specified timelines.
Keeps residents' areas tidy by performing light housekeeping activities.
Ensures all safety-related procedures are followed at all times.
Performs hourly resident checks.
Facilitates/participates in activities as assigned, including prescribed exercise activities.
Adheres to behavioral management interventions and strategies to optimize resident functioning.
Assists with efficient and pleasant meal service, including assistance with meals and clean up of dining area.
Assists with putting away resident's personal laundry.
Orders supplies and restocks as needed.
Communicates resident personal hygiene and supply needs to social worker.
Maintains and develops work-related knowledge and skills through continuous learning activities, attendance at inservices and workshops, etc.
Completes special projects/tasks in support of effective department functioning as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
The following educational minimum requirements must be met by all incumbents:
Must be willing and able to work with older adults with mild to moderate dementia/memory deficits in a residential setting with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Current NYS HHA Certification; CPR is preferred, but not required
3 years experience working with a senior population; previous experience working with those with dementia/cognitive deficits is preferred
Compensation: $21.00 Per Hour
