Steppingblocks helps students and the institutions that support them use data to understand outcomes and make long-term decisions with confidence. Every student deserves more than guesswork when planning their future. Our platform, including the Digital Career Counselor (DCC), gives students and higher education partners the insight they need to close the information gap between education and career outcomes.
We're hiring a Product Manager to own our student platform. In this role, you'll shape how students explore careers, understand outcomes, and make informed decisions about their futures. You'll report to the Senior Product Manager and work side by side with engineering, design, and our Partner Success team to ship features that students love and institutions rely on. If you thrive on turning ambiguity into clarity, love working close to users, and are energized by building AI-native product workflows, this role is designed for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the DCC product backlog. You prioritize, sequence, and make the final call on what ships, when, and why.
- Scope new and updated features on DCC, including available customization options and internal tools to help us manage customer tenants.
- Define acceptance criteria, launch readiness, and success metrics for every feature you ship.
- Make design and UX calls together with the designer and engineering team. Design is a joint craft on this team, not a hand-off.
- Triage bugs and decide what gets fixed now versus later.
- Line up the engineering, design, and data dependencies needed to deliver.
- Communicate DCC roadmap status and feature updates to internal stakeholders on a regular cadence.
- Keep DCC features accessibility-compliant and the feature inventory current as new work ships.
- Run discovery and research ahead of new features, including AI-assisted prototyping and mockups to gather customer feedback before engineering investment.
- Partner with Partner Success to get customer-facing documentation in place for every release.
- Contribute to the broader DCC roadmap and engineering capacity planning. You have meaningful input here, though the final call sits with product leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of product management experience on customer-facing SaaS products, ideally in agile environments.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI tools in your day-to-day work. You already use Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar tools to move faster and think better, and you're excited about building AI-native product workflows inside a product org.
- Experience owning a product surface end-to-end: discovery, scoping, launch, measurement, iteration.
- Comfort making trade-off decisions with incomplete information and communicating the rationale clearly.
- Strong collaboration skills with designers and engineers. You treat design and UX as a joint craft.
- Clear written communicator, comfortable moving between customer-facing documentation, internal roadmap updates, and executive-level summaries.
- Self-directed, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities independently.
- Grounded and customer-obsessed. You build trust quickly and move work forward without drama.
- Collaborative and open to feedback. You take input well, hold your ideas loosely, and are comfortable being wrong sometimes.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building student-facing, consumer, or education products.
- Background in accessibility (WCAG) compliance and inclusive design practices.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS products.
- Hands-on experience prototyping with AI: shipping LLM-powered features, or running AI-assisted research and discovery loops.
- Basic SQL proficiency for self-serve exploration of product usage data.
