Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience and efficient clinic operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems is preferred, and experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) is highly desirable. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve our diverse patient population. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations while providing exceptional customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner and provide exceptional customer service.
- Answer and manage incoming calls using a multi-line phone system.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
- Register new patients and update demographic and insurance information accurately.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Collect copayments, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances.
- Scan, upload, and maintain patient records and other documentation within the EMR system.
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Coordinate patient communications, including appointment reminders and follow-up calls.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
- Support clinic staff with general administrative duties and help maintain an organized front office environment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Previous medical receptionist or medical office experience preferred.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems preferred; experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Experience with insurance verification processes preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
