Responsibilities
- Install emergency accessories such as lighting, sirens, communication devices, and related mechanical systems on various vehicles using hand tools and power tools.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of installed accessories to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Interpret schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to accurately assemble and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Perform manual handling tasks including lifting, positioning, and securing heavy or bulky components during installation or repair processes.
- Utilize automotive electrical systems knowledge to diagnose issues using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters, ensuring precise repairs.
- Follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Document installation procedures, repairs, and inspections thoroughly for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle maintenance and mechanical systems repair.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, schematics, and automotive electrical systems.
- Ability to perform manual handling safely when working with heavy components or equipment.
- Knowledge of diesel mechanics and general automotive service practices.
- Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) procedures specific to emergency vehicle accessories.
- Experience reading technical diagrams and schematics to guide installations or troubleshooting efforts.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical system testing.
