We are a growing industrial distribution company seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee and manage all accounting and financial functions of the business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, producing financial reports, and supporting ownership with financial analysis and operational insight.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a small-business environment where they will wear multiple hats and play a key role in the company’s success.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage all general accounting functions including:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- General Ledger
- Bank Reconciliations
- Journal Entries
- Fixed Assets
- Payroll coordination
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts
- Manage sales tax filings and other compliance reporting
- Coordinate with outside CPA for tax preparation and annual reviews
Operational & Management Support
- Develop and maintain budgets and financial forecasts
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management
- Monitor inventory accounting and costing - strong cost accounting experience
- Assist with ERP/accounting system management and process improvements
- Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support management with reporting, KPIs, and operational analysis
Administrative & Other Duties
- Assist with HR/payroll administration as needed
- Manage vendor relationships related to accounting and banking
- Support insurance audits, lender reporting, and other financial requirements
- Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives
Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting or controller experience
- Experience in distribution, construction supply, industrial supply, or waterworks industry preferred
- Strong understanding of:
- financial statements
- cash flow management
- inventory accounting
- job costing
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Infor FACTS or similar ERP systems
- Experience in small to mid-sized businesses
- CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
