Job Summary
We are a new neighborhood bread bakery and café in Wilmington seeking a friendly, reliable team member to join our front-of-house operations. This role combines customer service, coffee and beverage preparation, and cashier responsibilities in a welcoming, fast-paced environment. You'll be the face of our bakery, creating a positive experience for every customer while maintaining high standards for service and quality.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a team setting, and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages to café standards
- Take customer orders accurately and process payments using POS system
- Provide friendly, efficient, and attentive customer service
- Serve pastries, bread, and light food items
- Maintain product displays and ensure freshness throughout the day
- Restock supplies, ingredients, and products as needed
- Keep the café, coffee bar, dining area, and customer-facing spaces clean and organized
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally
- Work collaboratively with bakery staff to ensure smooth operations
- Assist with opening or closing duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Customer service or food service experience preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Basic math and cash-handling skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods
- Weekend availability required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–40 lbs
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to work with cleaning agents and food allergens without issue
- Comfortable working in a busy café environment with varying noise levels
Schedule
- Full-time
- Early mornings, weekends, and flexible scheduling required
- Consistent schedule provided based on availability
