Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Tech/Caregiver to provide exceptional support and care to residents in a healthcare or senior living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience working with geriatric populations, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring specialized medical attention. As a Med Tech/Caregiver, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents’ well-being by assisting with daily activities, administering medications, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to detect changes in health status.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare guidelines.
- Provide compassionate emotional support and effective communication to residents and their families.
- Ensure safety during manual handling and heavy lifting tasks while adhering to proper techniques and safety protocols.
- Follow all applicable policies related to patient confidentiality, medical documentation, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance at all times.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care practices.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or similar platforms for accurate documentation.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving roles.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality at all times.
- Valid certification from the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing as required by state healthcare regulations.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to work effectively within a team environment.
