Arthritis & Rheumatic Disease Specialties is seeking a dependable, patient-focused X-Ray Technologist/ Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This position combines in-house diagnostic radiography (X-ray and DEXA) with traditional medical assistant responsibilities and offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians in a fast-paced rheumatology practice. Qualifications
Required:
- Current Florida certification as a:
- Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO), or
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant experience in a physician office setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred:
- Rheumatology, orthopedics, primary care, or specialty practice experience
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (NextGen preferred)
- Injection administration experience
Essential Responsibilities Radiology Duties
- Perform physician-ordered diagnostic radiographs in accordance with Florida regulations and office protocols
- Position patients appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
- Maintain radiation safety standards for patients and staff
- Ensure proper documentation and image transfer within the EHR/PACS system
- Perform routine quality control and equipment checks
- Maintain compliance with all Florida Department of Health and radiation safety requirements
Medical Assistant Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs and medical histories
- Assist physicians with examinations and procedures
- Administer injections and medications as directed
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinical supplies
- Document patient information accurately within the EHR
- Respond to patient phone calls, electronic messages, and patient portal communications in a timely, professional manner, escalating clinical concerns to providers when appropriate
- Communicate test results, physician recommendations, medication instructions, appointment information, and care plans under provider direction
- Coordinate communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centers, and other healthcare organizations to ensure continuity of care
- Coordinate referrals, laboratory testing, imaging studies, and prior authorizations as needed
- Provide patient education and follow-up instructions
- Assist with scheduling as needed
