Lead Spray Technician
Thompsons Landscape Maintenance – Grand Junction, CO
Full-Time | Year-Round
$19–$28+ per hour DOE
TLM CO is seeking an experienced Lead Spray Technician to oversee and perform pesticide, herbicide, fertilizer, and specialty applications for residential, commercial, and HOA properties throughout Western Colorado.
This position will primarily focus on non-turf weed control and vegetation management, while also assisting with turf care applications, diagnostics, and treatment recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pesticides, plant health, weed identification, and integrated pest management practices.
Colorado Qualified Supervisor (QS) License preferred.
Responsibilities
- Apply herbicides, fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, and specialty products according to label requirements and company standards.
- Perform non-turf weed control applications in landscape beds, fence lines, gravel areas, parking lots, and commercial properties.
- Diagnose and identify weeds, insects, diseases, and plant health issues.
- Assist with turf care services including fertilization, weed control, grub treatments, and disease management.
- Maintain accurate application records and chemical inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pesticide regulations.
- Operate and maintain spray trucks, backpack sprayers, spreaders, and related equipment.
- Train and assist other technicians as needed.
- Communicate professionally with customers, HOA managers, and property managers.
Qualifications
- Colorado Qualified Supervisor (QS) License strongly preferred
- Colorado Commercial Applicator License preferred
- Experience in pesticide application, lawn care, vegetation management, landscaping, agriculture, golf course maintenance, or a related field
- Knowledge of herbicides, fertilizers, insecticides, and fungicides
- Ability to identify common weeds and plant health issues
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred but Not Required
- QS License in Turf, Ornamental, Industrial & Right-of-Way, or related categories
- Experience diagnosing turfgrass issues
- Experience managing spray programs and chemical inventories
- Experience leading a crew or training technicians
