Position Summary
The Dock & Door Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial and industrial dock and door equipment. This position performs field service work at customer locations while maintaining a high level of safety, professionalism, and customer service. The technician is expected to accurately diagnose equipment issues, communicate repair recommendations, and complete work in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on dock and door equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on dock and door systems.
- Service and repair loading dock levelers, vehicle restraints, dock seals and shelters, sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, fire doors, scissor lifts, lift tables, edge of dock levelers, and dock accessories.
- Install replacement parts and components as required.
- Perform equipment adjustments, alignments, and operational testing.
- Document all findings, repairs, and recommendations accurately on service work orders.
- Identify and communicate additional repair opportunities to customers and management.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and assigned inventory in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, service coordinators, and management.
- Obtain required customer signatures and documentation upon completion of work.
- Participate in manufacturer and company training programs.
- Assist with after-hours emergency service as assigned.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct when representing the company.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate company service vehicles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience servicing commercial dock and door equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical controls, and industrial equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Manufacturer certifications related to dock and door equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
Work Environment
- Customer facilities including warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and commercial buildings.
- Exposure to moving machinery, powered industrial trucks, electrical systems, and varying environmental conditions.
- Occasional overtime, weekend work, and emergency service response may be required.

Pay: $28.00 - $45.00 per hour
