Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist / Medical Assistant to join our growing healthcare team. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who enjoys both patient interaction and clinical support. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service while assisting providers with daily clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Front Office Duties
- Greet patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.
- Register new patients and update demographic information.
- Collect copays and process payments.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR).
- Manage incoming faxes, referrals, and medical records.
Medical Assistant Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs.
- Document medical histories and chief complaints.
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Administer injections, vaccines, and medications (as permitted by certification and state regulations).
- Perform basic laboratory duties, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Provide patient education and follow-up instructions.
- Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and medical supplies.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- CPR certification
- Ability to take vital signs
Preferred:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification.
- Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations.
