PlasmaLab International is a small biomedical research company and plasma collection center based in Everett, Washington, with approximately 15 employees. We specialize in the collection of human plasma products from individuals with disease-associated antibody disorders. We are FDA-licensed and have been operating since 1985, with a focus on allergic and autoimmune conditions
Core Activities
· Plasma Collection: Screens and collects plasma from donors with moderate to severe allergies (e.g., pollen, food, environmental) and certain autoimmune/immune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren’s syndrome, and Lyme disease.
· Research & Diagnostic Use: Antibody-rich plasma is used to develop diagnostic test kits, quality control standards, and research reagents for global diagnostic manufacturers and research facilities
Position Title: Laboratory Specialist.

The Laboratory Specialist is responsible for Specimen processing of blood and plasma including but limited to not limited to splitting, aliquoting, centrifuging and defibrating. Duties also include the shipping of plasma units and other blood components to domestic and international customers. You will identify, prepare and package plasma, prepare all required documentation for international and domestic shipment, arrange plasma product shipments for pickup, and follow up on deliveries.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform plasma and whole blood processing in a small lab setting.
- Identify, prepare, and package plasma according to applicable instructions.
- Prepare all required documentation for international and domestic shipments.
- Arrange plasma product shipments for pickup; follow up on deliveries.
- Ship plasma components to domestic and international customers.
- Prepare airway bills, packing slips, international documents, and shipping labels.
- Shipping of testing samples, paperwork preparation, review of shipments and documentation. Walking in cold temperatures pulling product from walk-in freezers to prepare for shipment.
- Interact with export carriers and customers, as needed, to resolve shipping issues.
- Work with carriers to ensure timely freight pickup and compliance to specific DOT requirements.
- Check incoming orders against purchase orders to ensure proper and accurate receipt of raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintain documentation related to shipping activities and monitor the status of shipments.
- Maintain freezers and other lab equipment.
- Inventory control of plasma product and laboratory supplies; order supplies, as necessary.
- Vendor communication.
- Able to follow verbal instructions.
- Investigation / problem solving.
- Data entry of lab results.
- May assist with QA/QC responsibilities.
- May assist in other operational areas, as needed.
DESCRIPTION:
The Laboratory Specialist will work closely with the Laboratory Lead and Sales Department to ensure quality and accuracy of orders, including proper shipping documentation. Candidate will communicate effectively and efficiently regarding any shipments that are in process. Computer skills and basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) are necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers, staff, and donors.
Candidate needs to be self-motivated, organized, and most importantly detailed oriented. Detailed oriented is a must as the reviewing and verification of documents and processing of specimens may be performed daily.

KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidate will have experience preparing and packaging of domestic and international shipping.
Knowledge of shipping couriers: FEDEX, DHL, UPS, ECT. is highly desired but not required.
Must be able to Lift up to 50lbs.
Ideal candidate will have experience in blood/specimen processing.
Must be able to work in cold environments (-20c), as needed.
Candidate should have knowledge of OSHA and Universal Precaution training.
Candidate should have sufficient knowledge of a range of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
Phlebotomy experience is highly desired but not required.
