The Senior Buyer oversees the purchasing of supplies and equipment for our organization. This role is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and tracking supplier performance. The ideal candidate has excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, as well as a strong understanding of supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
· Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
· Verify requisitions and confirm department requirements before processing.
· Process purchase orders and ensure accuracy in pricing and quantities.
· Analyze market trends, pricing, and quality of products to ensure the best value for the organization.
· Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
· Provide guidance and support to junior members of the purchasing team.
· Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
· Tracking available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
· Track shipments and monitor delivery schedules.
· Oversees supplier-related activities and their performance to ensure that they’re meeting compliance.
· Communicate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, and discrepancies.
· Develops a profitable strategy and ensures quality goods are supplied to meet their needs.
· Prepares and implements effective negotiation tactics.
· Analyzes and resolves purchasing issues/discrepancies.
· Maintain purchasing records, reports, and filing systems
Minimum Qualifications
· Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems.
· Strong knowledge of purchase order and invoicing processes.
· Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
· Effective communication and vendor relationship skills.
· Organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· 3 - 5 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
· Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement initiatives.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Familiarity with vendor management and compliance practices.
