Position Summary:
The Paralegal will play a vital role in managing family law and criminal defense cases, assisting attorneys with case preparation, and ensuring efficient communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in both domestic relations and criminal law and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents in family law and criminal matters.
- Assist attorneys with case strategy, trial preparation, and courtroom exhibits.
- Organize and manage case files, evidence, and discovery materials.
- Conduct legal research and maintain case calendars to track deadlines.
- Communicate directly with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel in a professional manner.
- Prepare child support and spousal support calculations and assist with financial affidavits in domestic cases.
- Assist with client intake and maintain regular updates throughout case progression.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Paralegal, with emphasis in domestic relations and/or criminal law.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field; Paralegal certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of Ohio domestic relations procedures and criminal court rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software (Clio experience a plus).
- Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
