Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Floating Staff Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive pharmacy services across different healthcare units, including acute care, pediatrics, and long-term care facilities.
- Perform patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapies and monitor ongoing treatment plans.
- Compound medications accurately using aseptic techniques and adhere to USP 797 standards for sterile preparations.
- Manage pharmacy operations such as inventory control, medication dispensing, and documentation within Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Provide patient education on medication administration, drug interactions, and health management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmaceutical regulations, including drug regulation laws, HIPAA confidentiality policies, and healthcare compliance standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams on medical management plans, pain management protocols, and immunization programs while practicing clinical confidentiality at all times.
- Assist in managing pharmacy teams by providing guidance on pharmacy operations and fostering a culture of excellent patient service.
- Support immunization efforts by administering vaccines following basic life support (BLS) protocols and ensuring proper documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration, IV infusions, compounding activities, and inventory levels in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with the relevant state pharmacy board.
- Prior experience practicing as a pharmacist in hospital or clinical settings; LTC pharmacy experience is highly desirable.
- Critical care experience or hospital experience demonstrating proficiency in acute care scenarios.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and drug regulation laws.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems such as Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR platforms.
- Experience with compounding medications using aseptic techniques following USP 797 guidelines.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as immunizations or pain management are advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations including inventory management, drug regulation policies, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.
- Ability to adapt quickly across multiple pharmacy environments while maintaining high standards of practice and confidentiality.
