The Assembler I – Upholstery Installer supports the production team by assisting in the preparation and installation of vinyl upholstery assemblies. This includes basic pattern layout, cutting, and sewing under supervision. The role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in upholstery and manufacturing, with opportunities for skill development and cross-training.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (include, but not limited to):
- Safely operate basic hand and power tools, including cutters and sewing machines, with guidance.
- Assist in vinyl layout, cutting and simple sewing tasks.
- Participate in cross-training to learn additional production tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Educational and Skill Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of upholstery or textile work preferred.
- Physically capable of operating vinyl preparation and sewing equipment.
- Willingness to receive training and assist other team members.
- Minimum 3 months of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (65-100% of shift).
- Frequent lifting of 1-5 lbs.
- Frequent, repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, grasping/squeezing.
- Occasional walking, reaching, and carrying.
- Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs. over short distances.
- Good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing required.
- Requires manual dexterity for light mechanical work.
Equipment Used:
- Basic hand tools, sewing machines, cutters, scales, and presses.
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses).
Work Schedule:
- Flexible hours with occasional overtime.
- Less than 1% unplanned absenteeism expected.
- No more than 40 unexcused hours per calendar year.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
