Position Overview
Aspen High Mesa Ranch is a private polo ranch located in Snowmass, Colorado. Situated on more than 1,100 acres, the ranch features a 17-acre championship polo field, highly maintained landscaped areas, productive hay fields, over eight miles of trails, and native mountain terrain. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ranch operations, grounds maintenance, irrigation management, and turf care within a premier recreational and agricultural setting.
The Seasonal Ranch Hand plays an integral role in maintaining the ranch's facilities, grounds, and infrastructure while supporting polo operations and special projects throughout the season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems across the property.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on ranch equipment and machinery.
- Perform mowing, trimming, and general grounds maintenance to maintain the property's high standards.
- Assist with road, trail, and fence maintenance projects.
- Support the upkeep of hay fields, landscaped areas, and native land management initiatives.
- Lead and supervise small project crews as assigned by management.
- Assist with polo field preparation, setup, and breakdown for practices and matches.
- Participate in general ranch maintenance and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in ranching, landscaping, grounds maintenance, agriculture, irrigation, or equipment operation is preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely operate equipment and power tools or willingness to learn.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the Ranch Manager.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
