About the opportunity
A rapidly growing platform of home and community-based services (HCBS) organizations in Southeast Michigan is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the operational onboarding and integration of newly acquired IDD service organizations. This is a builder's role designed for an experienced IDD/HCBS operator who knows how to take a newly acquired organization and get it running at a high level under a larger platform.
The organization is CARF-accredited, serves thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the Midwest, and is actively growing through acquisition. This person will be the operational engine behind that growth partnering with the acquisitions team to ensure every new organization is successfully integrated, stabilized, and set up to thrive. Reports directly to the SVP of Operations.
What you'll own
- Lead end-to-end operational integration of newly acquired IDD/HCBS organizations from initial assessment through full platform alignment
- Evaluate acquired organizations' operational infrastructure and build actionable integration and stabilization plans
- Standardize systems, processes, compliance frameworks, and billing practices across acquired brands
- Ensure regulatory compliance across Michigan Medicaid waiver, CARF, and CMHSP/PIHP requirements
- Partner with the acquisitions team on diligence assessing operational risk and readiness of target organizations
- Support and stabilize leadership teams at newly acquired organizations through periods of transition
- Identify and resolve operational gaps workforce systems, EVV compliance, authorization management, incident reporting
- Drive continuous improvement across the platform's operational infrastructure
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of senior operations leadership in IDD, HCBS, or closely related human services
- Demonstrated success building or stabilizing operations,
- Deep familiarity with Michigan's Medicaid waiver environment, CMHSP/PIHP structure, and IDD service delivery regulations
- Experience operating within a multi-site, multi-brand, or post-acquisition environment strongly preferred
- Systems thinker with strong process-building instincts.
- Strong change management and people leadership skills.
- Financial fluency - budget ownership, P&L awareness, and performance management
- Bachelor's degree required; this role is based in Troy, MI with local travel across Southeast Michigan
Compensation & structure
- Base salary: $100,000–$135,000 depending on experience
- Annual performance bonus: 20–25% of base
- Hybrid work model (remote + on-site in Troy, MI)
