Do you love basketball, working with kids, and bringing high energy into the gym? The Bath Area Family YMCA is looking for enthusiastic Youth Basketball Instructors who can turn skill-building into an experience kids look forward to every week.
This role is less about drawing up complex plays and more about creating an environment where kids stay active, build confidence, improve skills, and have FUN. We’re looking for someone with the personality of a great camp counselor or PE teacher; Someone who can keep kids engaged, encourage teamwork, and make every participant feel successful.
Our basketball programs range from beginner clinics to recreational skill development classes for young athletes ages 3–12. Many participants are learning the game for the first time, so patience, positivity, creativity, and energy are essential.
What You’ll Do:
-
Lead and assist with youth basketball clinics and classes
- Teach fundamentals including dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork
- Run fun drills, games, and activities that keep kids constantly moving
- Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment
- Set up and break down equipment before and after classes
- Communicate positively with parents, participants, and YMCA staff
- Help reinforce YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
Who Would Be a Great Fit:
-
Future teachers, coaches, recreation staff, or camp counselors
- College or high school students with strong leadership skills
- Former athletes who enjoy working with kids
- Individuals with high energy and a positive attitude
- People who can manage “organized chaos” with patience and enthusiasm
You do NOT need college-level basketball experience to succeed in this role. If you can connect with kids, create excitement, and help participants grow both on and off the court, we’d love to hear from you.
