Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections safely, including IV infusions and medication management following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, ostomy care, and tube feeding with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage acute pain and provide critical care support in high-pressure environments like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpreting results for accurate patient diagnosis.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as geriatrics, dementia care, post-acute recovery, or chronic disease management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and compliance with NCQA standards for quality care delivery.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in diverse settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/CCU (Critical Care Units), or outpatient clinics.
- Demonstrated expertise working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays in assisted living or home & community care environments.
- Prior experience in specialized fields including cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including CT imaging), infectious disease care, or hospice & palliative medicine is highly valued.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation and coding (ICD-9/10, CPT).
- Strong background in critical care transport, trauma medicine (Level II/Level I Trauma Center), or neonatal/pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
- Knowledge of infection control practices, laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, sterile processing, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as ventilator management, spinal taps, gastric lavage, or sonography when applicable.
