Position Overview
The Millennia Commercial Group is looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team at our hotel in Downtown Cleveland.
The Assistant Director of Engineering provides dedicated expertise in general property maintenance and operating access control systems, fire alarm/life safety systems and Building Automation Systems. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, they are responsible to maintain the hotel’s interior and exterior, and for directly supervising engineering department employees.
Expected Hours of Work & Travel

Assist with monthly or periodic inspections of building systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, structural system, vertical transportation, roofs, parapets, gutters and leaders, parking area, drainage, ramps, and approaches, irrigation and Fire/Life Safety, Water treatment, HVAC controls and Plumbing systems.

Estimate, complete and/or delegate mechanical or cosmetic project and tasks, ensuring scope, plans, materials and workmanship are in compliance with applicable compliance codes, ordinances, standards and requirements.

Must be able to take initiative to analyze requests, issues and emergencies and to make quick technical decisions based on circumstances.

Provide input to enhance departmental processes

Evaluate workload and plans, directing and coordinating maintenance operations of building plumbing, heating, ventilation, AC and ancillary systems and infrastructure equipment.

Maintain mechanical equipment rooms to ensure clean and safe conditions.

Maintain all repair records and other documentation for the building, including up to date drawings, as mandated.

Assume responsibility in Director of Engineering absence and participate in hotel meetings as required. .

Required Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor or advanced degree strongly preferred

4 years’ experience working in building management/engineering

Technical certification and advanced knowledge of building maintenance and mechanical engineering and repair

Previous Engineering department experience within a hotel environment

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Strong leadership skills and previous experience in managing a large team
