JOB PURPOSE
The Staff Accountant is under the direct supervision of the Controller. The Staff Accountant is responsible primarily for performing and maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; maintaining fixed asset records, and performing general accounting functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts
- Reconcile and prepare multi-state sales tax returns
- Maintain and reconcile fixed assets record to general ledger; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals
- Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
- Supports accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry as necessary
- Prepare documentation for external auditors
- Follows company’s established accounting processes
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
- Other duties and projects as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced math skills with ability to analyze figures
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

- Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Proficient in Word and Excel Spreadsheets
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent field of study required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- CPA or CPA-eligible candidate is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in an office environment. Office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training and projects. Some travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
