Senior Data Analyst
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to transform complex business data into actionable insights that support strategic planning, operational performance, and informed decision-making. This role will partner with business leaders, product teams, finance, operations, technology, and other stakeholders to define analytical requirements, develop meaningful performance measures, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. The Senior Data Analyst will take ownership of analytical projects from requirements gathering and data validation through analysis, visualization, and presentation of findings. The position requires strong technical expertise in SQL, data visualization, statistical analysis, and business intelligence tools, combined with the ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will contribute to reporting standards, data quality initiatives, process automation, forecasting, and continuous improvement of analytical capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large and complex datasets using SQL, Python, statistical methods, and analytical techniques to identify trends, patterns, risks, and business opportunities.
- Partner with stakeholders to define business questions, analytical requirements, success measures, reporting needs, and data-driven recommendations.
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards, operational reports, KPI scorecards, and interactive visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or comparable business intelligence platforms.
- Write advanced SQL queries using joins, common table expressions, window functions, aggregations, subqueries, and data transformation techniques.
- Perform data profiling, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and quality assessments to ensure analytical outputs are accurate and reliable.
- Develop statistical analyses, forecasts, segmentation models, cohort analyses, and other analytical solutions supporting business planning and performance management.
- Translate analytical findings into clear presentations, recommendations, reports, and business narratives for senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Monitor key performance indicators and investigate significant variances, anomalies, changes, and emerging business trends.
- Collaborate with data engineers and technology teams to define data requirements, improve analytical datasets, and support data pipeline enhancements.
- Support experimentation, A/B testing, customer segmentation, process analysis, and quantitative evaluations of business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, manual analysis, and data preparation processes using SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or workflow automation tools.
- Establish standardized reporting definitions, analytical methodologies, documentation, business rules, and data interpretation guidelines.
- Contribute to data governance and quality initiatives by documenting data sources, definitions, lineage, assumptions, and analytical processes.
- Lead analytical projects independently, manage competing priorities, communicate project status, and deliver high-quality insights within established timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- 5 or more years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, quantitative analysis, reporting, or a related analytical role.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, data aggregation, common table expressions, window functions, query optimization, and data transformation.
- Strong Python skills with practical experience using pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or comparable data analysis libraries.
- Demonstrated experience developing business intelligence dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or comparable data visualization platforms.
- Experience working with relational databases, cloud data platforms, and data warehouses such as Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Databricks, or comparable technologies.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, forecasting, regression, hypothesis testing, experimentation, segmentation, and quantitative modeling techniques.
- Experience with data preparation, ETL/ELT concepts, data validation, data quality processes, and analytical data pipelines.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, data modeling, and analytical reporting.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, master data concepts, data quality, and business intelligence reporting standards.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Microsoft Teams, or comparable platforms.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect analytical findings to operational performance, financial outcomes, customer metrics, and strategic objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex analytical findings clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau certifications, Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Databricks certifications, or comparable credentials. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
