Duties
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles, including literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods
- Lead daily classroom activities focused on child development instruction, behavior management, and classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment
- Support children’s social-emotional growth through effective behavior management techniques and individualized attention
- Collaborate with families through regular communication about children’s progress, milestones, and any special needs or early intervention requirements
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and child welfare standards to maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor developmental progress and tailor instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate documentation of lesson plans, child observations, and incident reports in accordance with licensing requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, demonstrating strong classroom experience and childcare skills
- Knowledge of childhood development theories, early intervention strategies, special education practices, and Montessori or similar educational philosophies
- Ability to develop engaging curricula that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, physical activity, and social skills
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in child welfare or mandated reporting laws are preferred
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, staff, and community partners
- Experience managing classrooms with diverse needs including toddler care and children requiring additional support through early intervention programs
- Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, documentation, and maintaining a structured learning environment
