Children's Learning Adventure is seeking a skilled, dependable, and self-motivated Regional Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, safety, and appearance of our preschool campuses throughout the Greater Houston area. This hands-on position is responsible for ensuring our schools remain safe, functional, clean, and welcoming for children, families, and team members.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial building maintenance, can work independently, and takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs while maintaining the exceptional standards of Children's Learning Adventure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Travel between Children's Learning Adventure campuses throughout the Houston area to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Complete assigned work orders accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure all campuses remain in excellent operating condition.
- Repair classroom furniture, cubbies, shelving, cabinetry, doors, locks, tables, chairs, and other classroom fixtures.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair playground equipment, fencing, gates, shade structures, tricycle tracks, and outdoor learning environments to ensure child safety and compliance with Texas childcare licensing standards.
- Perform carpentry, drywall repair, patching, texturing, painting, caulking, and general building repairs.
- Repair and replace flooring, ceiling tiles, baseboards, trim, windows, doors, and other building components.
- Troubleshoot and complete minor plumbing repairs, including sinks, faucets, toilets, drains, water fountains, and irrigation components.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance, including replacing switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, LED lighting, ballasts, etc.
- Assist with HVAC preventative maintenance, including changing air filters, cleaning condensate drains, and coordinating repairs with licensed HVAC contractors when necessary.
- Assemble and install classroom furniture, office furniture, storage systems, playground equipment, and educational fixtures.
- Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, exterior lighting, building signage, entrances, and common areas.
- Perform pressure washing, weather-related repairs, and exterior maintenance to keep campuses clean and professional.
- Repair gates, security hardware, panic devices, handrails, fencing, and other safety-related equipment.
- Maintain maintenance equipment, company tools, vehicles, and inventory in safe working condition.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests that could impact school operations.
- Coordinate repairs with campus leadership to minimize disruption to daily operations.
- Document completed work orders and communicate repair status effectively.
- Identify maintenance concerns before they become costly repairs through proactive inspections.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, OSHA safety standards, local building codes, and Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Regulation requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at every campus.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial building maintenance, property maintenance, or general construction experience.
- Working knowledge of carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues independently and recommend effective solutions.
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel regularly between Children's Learning Adventure campuses throughout the Greater Houston area.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Professional appearance and excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining schools, childcare centers, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, hotels, or commercial properties.
- Familiarity with Texas Child Care Regulation health and safety standards.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor certifications are a plus.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and work order management systems.
