Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Head Toddler/Pre-K Teacher to join our team. This is a leadership position that requires someone who is energetic, organized, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education.
The ideal candidate will be confident in leading a classroom independently, implementing engaging lesson plans, maintaining excellent classroom management, and creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Responsibilities
- Independently lead and manage a Toddler or Pre-K classroom.
- Be great with classroom management.
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans and curriculum.
- Foster a nurturing, safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Maintain excellent classroom management using positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Supervise children at all times during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and transitions.
- Perform diaper changes and assist with toileting while following all licensing, health, and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain accurate diapering, toileting, and daily care documentation.
- Assist children with feeding, self-help skills, and developing independence.
- Observe and assess children's developmental progress and individualize learning experiences based on each child's needs.
- Encourage children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development through hands-on learning experiences.
- Prepare and maintain an organized classroom that meets licensing regulations, Grow NJ standards, and Montessori expectations.
- Complete daily reports, observations, portfolios, lesson plans, and all required classroom documentation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with parents regarding children's progress, milestones, and daily activities.
- Work collaboratively with assistant teachers by providing leadership, guidance, and support throughout the day.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child at all times.
- Participate in school events, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Follow all state licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies.Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a Toddler or Pre-K classroom is required.
- Experience independently planning and implementing curriculum and lesson plans.
- Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to confidently lead a classroom.
- Comfortable and experienced with diaper changing, toileting assistance, feeding, and other daily care routines for young children.
- Knowledge of proper diaper changing, sanitation, and health procedures in accordance with New Jersey licensing regulations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Montessori experience is preferred but not required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification are preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
