Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and explaining treatment plans.
- Support patients during therapy sessions by helping with exercises, transfers, and mobility activities using proper patient transfer methods.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Monitor patient progress during therapy sessions, noting observations and reporting any concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Handle manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of equipment or assistive devices while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times by following HIPAA guidelines and safeguarding sensitive information.
- Support administrative duties including scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and managing documentation related to physiotherapy treatments.
Experience
- Prior experience practicing in a physical therapy role or supporting rehabilitation care is highly preferred.
- Experience working in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or inpatient settings provides valuable insight into acute and post-acute care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient transfer methods enhances your ability to assist effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with clients and healthcare team members ensures smooth collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with physiotherapy practices in orthopedics, geriatrics, or sub-acute care settings is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required to ensure safety during emergency situations.
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
