Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Attorney (JD or LLM required) to join our team as a Legal Invoice Review Quality Assurance Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and auditing legal fee and expense invoices submitted by law firms and vendors, ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance reviews of legal invoices and analyst adjustments.
- Evaluate legal fee and expense entries for accuracy, compliance, and proper billing practices.
- Review and validate UTBMS task, activity, and expense codes.
- Apply legal expertise to identify billing discrepancies and make appropriate invoice adjustments.
- Document adjustment rationales and billing guideline violations.
- Handle law firm appeals and requests for reconsideration regarding invoice adjustments.
- Communicate professionally with law firms to resolve billing disputes and reach mutually acceptable outcomes.
- Analyze legal matters and extract key legal concepts to support appeals and mediation efforts.
- Prepare summaries and recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to business partners regarding legal billing review processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree required.
- Experience practicing law, working in a law firm, legal operations, legal billing, or legal invoice review.
- Strong understanding of legal billing guidelines and invoice auditing.
- Familiarity with UTBMS coding standards.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound legal judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with legal spend management, e-billing platforms, or legal operations.
- Prior quality assurance or audit experience in a legal environment.
- Experience handling law firm billing disputes and appeals.
Pay: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour
