JOB DESCRIPTION FOR: Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: Clinical Nurse Manager
JOB Summary:
Provide professional care by following established standards of practice in caring for orthopedic patients.
FUNCTIONS:
- Provide individualized care to patients
- Prepare for and participate in physician clinics as scheduled to include but not limited to review chart(s), interview patients, prep for procedures/exam
- Knowledgeable in DME stock and application
- Oversee surgery and special procedure scheduling
- Maintain accurate and complete record keeping per policy/ procedure
- Respond to incoming phone calls/ messages per policy/procedure
- Review incoming medical documents, reports, faxed and written communication and follow up appropriately.
- Responsible to maintain and communicate physicians daily and weekly schedules
- Attend in-services and meetings as indicated
- Proficient in cast/ splint application
- Proficient in wound care
- Maintains HIPAA compliance
- Maintain universal precautions
- Performs other duties assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR CERTIFIED
- Pursue Medical Assistant Certification - will cover cost of training
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year Clinical
- Preferred 2+years clinical plus office experience
