This residential DSP position will average around 35-45 hours/week and offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of an adult male with autism, who is sharing an apartment with another adult male. He is bright and engaging, enjoys soda, movies and being in the community. As a vital member of our caregiving community, you will provide compassionate support, promote independence, and ensure the safety and well-being of this resident. This client attends Day Services Monday - Friday from 9AM-3PM, we will need a 2nd shift, 3rd shift and someone who can do both (3 Full-Time Staff). Preference is always giving to individuals who have open availability and are eager to pick up additional shifts for call-offs, short staffed situations, etc.
Residential staff must all coordinate if the client's day program is closed, or the client is unable to attend programming for some reason to ensure coverage for the 9AM-3PM time frame.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, bathroom assistance and grooming.
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Ensure client is able to attend all appointments, meetings and other obligations.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe home environment that allows the client the best experience, this includes laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping and other household tasks.
- Will maintain client's routine and ongoing care and communication needs.
Skills
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR/FA Certification (will train if necessary)
- Medication Administration - Level 1 Certification (will train if necessary)
- Driver's License, with less than 5 points in the last 2 years
- DODD DSP Annual Training (mylearning.dodd.ohio.gov) is required
- Must be able to pass a basic background check
- At least 1 year in the Developmental Disabilities field or working at Direct Support Professional
