Rowe Tree Co., Inc. is a family-owned company with more than 57 years of experience providing utility line clearance and vegetation management services throughout North Carolina. We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and safety-focused Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic to join our team.
This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel trucks, bucket trucks, trailers, chippers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline-powered trucks and heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, engine, drivetrain, and PTO systems
- Complete emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Perform DOT inspections when qualified
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop
- Order and track parts and shop supplies
- Respond to field service calls as needed
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 to 5 years of heavy-duty diesel, fleet, or equipment mechanic experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance
- Experience with bucket trucks, CDL trucks, trailers, chippers, or heavy equipment is preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain one
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation
Preferred Certifications
Applicants with the following credentials are encouraged to apply:
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification
- DOT Annual Inspection Qualification
- CDL
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Certification credentials will be verified prior to employment.
