The Registered Dietitian (RD) is an essential member of the Interdisciplinary Team and is responsible for a comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition and therapeutic diets. The RD completes participant nutritional assessments and reassessments as needed, determines nutrition risk status, provides nutrition education and counseling, and develops interventions to support nutrition needs of participants. Participates in program development, quality improvement and other projects and committees as assigned.
Bachelors Degree from and an accredited college or university in food science, nutrition, and/or dietetics is required
Certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian
Minimum of 1 year experience in long-term care preferred, one year experience working with a frail or elderly population highly desired
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition and therapeutic diets
Skilled in medical terminology, including knowledge of the appropriate documentation for completing written assessments
Skilled in the use of computer and EHR system
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, vendors, medical staff, and the public
