Summary: The Community Engagement Specialist supports the ICC services by mobilizing communities to address the emotional and behavioral health needs of youth, young adults, and families.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for fulfilling all duties related to emergency preparedness, evacuation, and client safety, including support of individuals who may not be capable of self-preservation, in accordance with TN Voices Employee Policies and TN State Department regulations and CARF Standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Community Engagement, Outreach & System of Care Collaboration

Represent TN Voices in assigned regions by developing and sustaining community engagement activities that promote System of Care values, children’s mental health awareness, and suicide prevention awareness.

Lead and participate in children’s mental health acceptance events, collaborations, community outreach opportunities, and awareness activities in partnership with local and regional partners.

Develop, coordinate, and support Children’s Mental Health Coalitions and local interagency collaborations within assigned regions.

Attend and actively participate in system of care-related meetings, advisory boards, councils, committees, workgroups, and community events within assigned regions.

Identify and engage community champions, faith-based organizations, schools, courts, providers, family groups, local leaders, and child-serving agencies to strengthen outreach and collaboration.

Promote and disseminate information regarding System of Care principles, community mental health resources, warning signs, and supports available for children, youth, young adults, families, and providers.

Coordinate and host informational booths at conferences, community events, and partner-requested outreach activities as assigned.

Assist with community needs assessments, outreach planning, and dissemination of findings or information as requested by program leadership or the State.
- Training, Presentations & Public Awareness
- Provide System of Care presentations to community organizations, family groups, child-serving agencies, and other community partners within assigned regions.

Coordinate and provide QPR, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Training for Mental Health First Aid, or other State-approved trainings as requested and assigned.

Schedule, organize, and support community presentations, trainings, and awareness events, including obtaining sign-in sheets, evaluations, and other required documentation.

Ensure presentations and trainings are professional, appropriate, understandable, and effective in meeting stated objectives.

Provide outreach and education that increases awareness and understanding of children’s mental health, System of Care principles, suicide prevention, and available community supports.

Support the expansion of local partnerships by sharing approved program materials, resources, and referral information with community stakeholders.
- Documentation, Reporting & Contract Compliance
- Document all community engagement activities, outreach contacts, meetings, trainings, presentations, coalitions, booths, and related program activities in required systems.

Submit accurate monthly reports reflecting scheduled and completed meetings, events, presentations, trainings, community contacts, referrals for information, resources shared, MOUs, community champions, and booths hosted.

Track and report data related to community-specific requests, grant-required activities, process evaluations, training evaluations, and other outcomes required by the Community Engagement scope.

Support the development, collection, and maintenance of interagency agreements, memoranda of understanding, partner documentation, sign-in sheets, and evaluation materials.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, CARF expectations, agency policies, State guidance, and contract requirements.

Collaborate with the Community Engagement Coordinator, program leadership, regional staff, and State partners to align outreach activities with grant goals, deliverables, and required outcomes.

Participate in required supervision, staff meetings, trainings, technical assistance activities, and professional development related to the Community Engagement Program.

Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s or associate degree in a social or behavioral science field or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with children, youth, young adults, families, community partners, coalitions, child-serving systems, or nonprofit service organizations is preferred.
- The employee must be eligible to obtain and maintain certification as a Family Support Specialist and/or the Tennessee Certified Peer Handbook credential, when applicable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance

Performance Evaluation: Employees are evaluated on an annual basis. Performance Reviews are completed electronically by the employee’s direct supervisor then reviewed and approved by regional or program leadership. Employees are given the opportunity to review their performance evaluation with their supervisor and will be required to acknowledge receipt of the annual review electronically.
