Clerk-Wellness Center
Reports To: Park Director
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Bargaining Unit
Shift: Mon-Sun, Varying Hours Wage: PG 3-1
Job Summary:
This position is accountable for performing a variety of clerical duties at the Niles Wellness Center. Also perform a variety of other duties, as well as other related work as required. This position is under the direct supervision of the Park Director, and/or designee who may, from time to time, review said work, methods of results and give general instructions on assignments.
This position is part-time, Monday-Sunday. Days/shifts are assigned by immediate supervisor.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in data entry for memberships
- Handle questions, concerns, and complaints about the Wellness Center.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, copying, and other simple office tasks
- Performs clerical-accounting duties such as posting, balancing, and depositing currency
- Informs supervisor of trouble calls and assist in solutions to problems
- Ensure all equipment is in working order.
- This classification will be cross trained and required to perform all departmental duties
- Any other work given within reason from the administration of the department
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of the facility operations and layout
- Familiar with city government policies, rules, and regulations
- Extensive knowledge of current office practices and procedures
- Ability to work on a large volume of work in a wide variety of subjects that require time sensitive completion
- Frequently works with considerable independence
- Ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters
- Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with the laws, ordinances, regulations, and department policies and procedures with approval of supervision
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the general public
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School diploma (GED equivalent) required
- Experience in secretarial/clerk position with progressive responsibility
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in MS office and recreation facility software
Essential Functions:
- Able to remain in a stationary sitting position for the majority of the shift
- Able to consistently operate a computer and other office equipment, such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc. and answer phones
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Able to communicate via phone, radio and in person and exchange accurate information in such situations
- Able to lift 10-15 pounds
This position will be primarily evenings and weekends with approximately 10-15 hours per week.
