Assumes primary responsibility for supervising campers throughout the camp day and implementing Camp St. Vincent’s academic and social skills curriculum. Creates a safe, friendly and fun camp environment for campers, volunteers and staff.

Responsible for leading and supervising campers in their assigned groups throughout the day during instructional periods, large group gatherings, special activities, field trips, breakfast and lunch.

Plans, coordinates, and directs math and reading activities according to the specified curriculum with emphasis on skills that are both grade and age appropriate of campers that attend camp.
- Prepares and submits lesson plans, 5 days prior to each session, to Director.

Prepares grade and age appropriate activities for swimming, athletics and the psycho social groups.

Makes full use of supplies provided, as well as able to provide additional supplies/resources to help enhance the effectiveness of the said program.

Makes sure campers are supervised and complies with camp discipline policies at all times and that proper safety and first aid procedures are carried out.

Ensures that program and storage areas are kept clean and orderly at all times.

Maintains an inventory of supplies, and submits requests as needed.

Attends pre-camp training and orientation program and participates in advance planning prior to the start of camp.

Participates in weekly instructor’s meetings.

Promotes good camp spirit and unity.

Serves as a “Bus Counselor” on scheduled dates agreed upon in advance, and on an “emergency basis,” as needed.

Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.

- Attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.

Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.

2 years of college education, required; Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, or appropriate certifications.

Experience in teaching children; professional educators with expertise are preferred.

Possess creative abilities and appreciation of the outdoor, natural environment.

Ability to commit to 8 weeks of uninterrupted.3d work and pre and post camp planning meetings.

Capable of planning and implementing, daily activities through verbal and written communication (daily lesson plans).

A genuine liking for children and outdoor camp life.
