The role within HealthRIGHT 360’s APPIC-compliant Doctoral Internship program and includes structured clinical service delivery, psychological assessment, supervision, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional development activities. Interns provide supervised clinical services within a community based behavioral health setting serving adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Interns are assigned a primary (main) training site and also complete a secondary rotation at one of our outpatient or residential programs. Interns function as developing psychologists and participate in a formal training program emphasizing evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, cultural responsiveness, and ethical clinical practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Services:
- Provide individual psychotherapy and maintain a caseload of approximately 10 individual clients per week, which may include clients from both primary and secondary rotation sites
- Co-Facilitate/facilitate at least 2 hours of groups per week
- Deliver evidence-based interventions (e.g. MI, CBT, DBT, ACT) and apply trauma-informed, harm-reduction and culturally responsive approaches
- Conduct intakes, treatment planning, case management, crisis intervention, and safety planning as needed
- Participate in milieu therapy (applicable to residential rotation sites)
Psychological Assessment:
- Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessment instruments (e.g., WASI, WRAT, PAI, RBANS)
- Prepare comprehensive written reports including diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations
- Complete 4 integrated psychological assessment reports during the training year
Training and Supervision:
- Attend weekly didactic training (2 hours)
- Participate in weekly individual (2 hours) and group supervision (2 hours)
- Incorporate supervision feedback into clinical practice
Care Coordination and Case Conferences
- Participate in care coordination meetings as needed with interdisciplinary treatment team, including substance use counselors, psychiatrists, case managers, and other providers
- Contribute clinical observations and treatment updates to support integrated care planning
- Attend weekly program staff meetings and case conferences (approximately 1–2 hours)
Supervision and Consultation:
- Provide individual supervision and consultation to practicum-level students under licensed supervision
- Develop supervisory skills, including case conceptualization support and professional feedback
Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record
- Complete intake, assessments, progress notes in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards consistent with APA, APPIC, and agency policies
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of training and competence
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Enrollment in an APA-accredited doctoral program (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field
- Experience or special interest in working with diverse populations
- Experience or special interest in working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
- A minimum of 500 intervention hours (preferred)
- A minimum of 25 assessment hours (preferred)
- Dissertation proposal defended (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Background Check and Other Requirements:
- Qualified candidates with arrest and conviction records will be considered
- Obtain and maintain satisfactory background check
- Complete TB clearance and required health screening
- Compliance with agency vaccination and health policies as applicable
- Complete CPR/First AID training within 14 days of start date
