This position is responsible to provide instructional support to instructors and students working in the OCCC cadaver laboratory. An employee in this position is at risk for occupational exposure to human blood and other potentially-infectious materials as a result of the employee’s duties.

Minimum Education/Experience
An Associate’s degree or higher
A qualified candidate should also have completed the following courses: General Biology 1 for majors or Introductory Zoology, Human Anatomy and General Chemistry I.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, materials and procedures.
Knowledge of safety and health procedures for handling potentially-hazardous chemicals and organic matter.
Knowledge of procedures established by the Oklahoma State Anatomical Board.
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills.
Abilities:
A flexible work schedule including mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday.
Ability to communicate (orally, in English) about laboratory procedures and scientific information to students.
Visual and auditory abilities (natural or corrected) sufficient to detect potential hazards in the laboratory.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is heavy work which requires the person to occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, stairs, scaffolding, ramp, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment and/or to instruct or assist students.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
Work is performed in an indoor office, lab, or classroom.
Subject to various hazards including a variety of physical conditions that may cause harm.
Exposed to high heat and chemicals and occupational exposure to human blood, blood borne pathogens, or other potentially infectious materials.
May need to wear protective personal equipment including a respirator.
Work is performed part of the time working in an environment where errors on this job can lead to significant physical or mental consequences for self or others.
Work is performed during normal office hours.

Work Hours
Most of the regular lab meeting times of the BIO 2255 Human Anatomy course. This includes 12 hours each week, and up to 8 additional hours of Open Lab study periods.
All work in this position will occur between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
