The Market Event Assistant assists the Market Manager(s) at over fifty (50) events per year, including Specialty Smithfield Farmer’s Markets during the Market Season, the Arts Festival, and Mistletoe Market along Main Street, the Wednesday afternoon Carrollton Summer Market, the St. Patrick’s Day & Christmas Parades, and the Windsor Spring and Smitchhfield Autumn Vintage Markets. Performs all related duties as required to assist in the production of events. The Market Event Assistant also assists in Tourism as a Visitor Center Advisor when needed.
- Conducts customer counts each half hour during special events and maintains records of customer counts.

Sets up and tears down tents, tables, chairs, garbage cans, traffic cones, and other necessary items at all departmental Special Events.

Answers questions for vendors and customers.

Works the Front Desk at Tourism when scheduled to answer questions, keep records, perform copying and clerical duties and deliver great customer service.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and perform all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is categorized up to a level of medium work at times, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Other times the work is categorized as sedentary or light work.
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be skilled in interpersonal communication and demonstrate initiative to work independently and adapt to changing and unexpected conditions.
Must have the ability to effectively work as a team player.
Must demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm.
Position is part-time, hours will vary.
