Our Smile Kings Dental & Orthodontics - Zarzamora team believes that outstanding patient care begins with excellent communication and efficient insurance coordination. We're looking for an Insurance Coordinator who is dependable, organized, and committed to ensuring patients receive the maximum benefit from their insurance coverage while supporting our clinical and administrative teams.
What You'll Do:
As a member of our Patient Services team, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate insurance verification and seamless communication between patients, insurance carriers, and our offices. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing daily schedules and verifying insurance for scheduled and add-on appointments
- Verifying patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage through insurance portals and by contacting insurance carriers
- Entering and updating insurance information in Open Dental software
- Creating and updating insurance plans within Open Dental
- Phasing treatment plans to align with covered services and insurance benefits
- Explaining insurance benefits, coverage, and patient financial responsibility to patients and office staff
- Collaborating closely with front office teams to ensure accurate benefit information
- Maintaining communication with offices and Patient Services departments via phone, email, and chat
- Maintaining accurate documentation and patient records
- Staying current on Medicaid guidelines, limitations, and covered benefits
- Representing the practice professionally while providing exceptional customer service
- Performing other duties as assigned
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of insurance verification experience (preferred)
- Experience verifying dental insurance eligibility and benefits
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Ability to type at least 45 words per minute
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Active listening and strong reading comprehension skills
- Day shift availability
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
- Experience using Open Dental software
- Knowledge of Medicaid dental insurance guidelines and regulations
- Experience working in a dental practice or multi-location dental organization
