Alpha Electrical Service (AES) Inc. has proudly provided electrical preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and emergency services throughout San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Barbara Counties for over 25 years.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled journeyman electrician with strong experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems, controls, and automation to join our team. This position primarily services clients throughout San Luis Obispo County.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a self motivated professional who can work independently, efficiently troubleshoot complex systems, and maintain accurate job documentation.
Key Responsibilities
-Install, service and maintain industrial and commercial electrical systems
-Troubleshoot and repair: Automation and control systems, Motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
-Work with and support systems including: PLCs, SCADA, Alarm systems
-Maintain accurate records, reports and timesheets
-Communicate effectively with clients and team members
Required Qualifications (Non-negotiable requirements)
-Active General Electrician Certification (DIR)
-Must reside in San Luis Obispo County or be willing to relocate
-Valid and clean driver’s license (for company vehicle use)
Experience & Skills
5-10+ years of electrical experience
-Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple electrical systems
-Proficiency in industrial controls, PLCs, SCADA, and VFDs
-Comfortable using smartphones and laptops for diagnostics, programming and documentation
Additional Requirements
-Maintain all required OSHA safety certifications
-Strong work ethic: dependable, punctual, and detail oriented
-Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces when necessary
-Availability for on-call, after-hours, and emergency service work
Location Requirement
-Due to the nature of emergency and on-call work, candidates must live within San Luis Obispo County
Compensation
- $40-$60/hr (DOE)
-Prevailing wage opportunities (per DIR determinations, minus fringes)
-Overtime, doubletime, and holiday pay as applicable
