Join our team as a House-call Dog Groomer (cats as well, if you are experienced and comfortable), where you will bring professional grooming services directly into pet owners’ homes, creating a comfortable and stress-free experience for pets and their families.
In this role, you would provide personalized 1-on-1 pet grooming sessions INSIDE the client home with a focus on connecting with the pets, keeping them calm and comfortable while they receive grooming services, and skillful grooming for clean coats and happy animals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of pets and their families every day. We currently provide services in Seattle, White Center and Burien.
Compensation is $30 - $35/hr depending on experience and skills, with mileage reimbursement between client homes and pay for driving time between appointments. Tips all go to you. Must own your own set of scissors, other tools that you do not already own would be provided and we will pay for tool maintainence.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive grooming services for dogs and cats in clients’ homes, including bathing, trimming, brushing, nail clipping, and ear cleaning
- Handle animals with care and confidence, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and yourself
- Assess each pet’s temperament and health status to tailor grooming procedures appropriately, taking breaks or stopping if needed for pet well-being
- Clean grooming area after each appointment, ensuring all tools are sanitized and well-maintained between appointments
- Communicate clearly with pet owners about grooming needs, special instructions, and after-care recommendations
- Follow appointment schedules efficiently while providing exceptional customer service to build lasting client relationships
- Safely driving to your appointments and navigating between client homes
Qualifications
- Dog grooming training and experience in salon, mobile, or house-call settings
- Cat grooming experience is a plus, but not essential for this position
- Genuine care for dogs and their well-being
- Calm, patient handling style, especially with anxious, challenging, young and elderly dogs
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
- Skilled in dog handling, dog and cat behavior, and animal restraint to ensure safe grooming sessions
- Knowledge of pet grooming tools, techniques, and safety protocols for dogs and cats
- Knowledge of a variety of breed standards and grooming techniques for double-coated and curly-coated dogs
- No handstripping needed
- Ability to lift dogs up to 35 lbs when necessary for equipment or supplies
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a passion for animal welfare and client satisfaction
- Clear communication skills with management and clients
- Attention to detail and pride in your work
- Professional presentation and conduct at all times
