Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by medical teams.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Document patient observations, care activities, and progress notes meticulously to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer's), autism spectrum disorder, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Assist with transportation to appointments or community activities while ensuring safety during transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Follow all safety procedures including first aid response and CPR certification to handle emergencies effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote well-being and independence.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patient conditions carefully and document changes accurately.
- Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, dementia care (including Alzheimer's), memory care, and hospice care practices.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training in caregiving techniques is encouraged.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach toward residents’ physical and emotional needs.
- Flexibility to work PRN shifts across various hours as needed to support our team’s dynamic schedule.
