Sr Structural Engineer with at least 10 years of heavy industrial experience to fill a contract position in Birmingham, AL.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- The SR Structural Engineer 1 position requires 10+ years heavy industrial/power plant/transmission experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing structural engineering services and field support
- Conducting preparation of designs and calculations
- Conducting site walk downs of construction sites
- Developing cost estimates and material takeoffs
- Providing schedule and staffing input for projects
- Producing and checking structural steel design calculations and drawings.
SKILLSETS & EXPERTISE
- Detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies
- Significant structural steel connection design experience
- Proficiency with structural codes and standards
- Extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components
- Strong computer skills - proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO
- Proficiency with OSHA regulations
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple large scale, multi-discipline projects
- Ability to perform structural inspections and provide written reports
- Strong problem solving and decision making abilities
- Ability to build effective relationships.
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary
