Supplemental Health Care is partnering with a supportive school district in Chicago, IL who are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 5–8 through a combination of push-in and pull-out instructional services. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is passionate about helping diverse learners achieve academic success through individualized support and evidence-based instructional strategies.
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will work with an average caseload of approximately 20 students, providing targeted interventions primarily in:
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Foundational math skills
- Academic and classroom support services
The most common student eligibility categories include:
- Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
- Developmental Delays (DD)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide differentiated instruction aligned with student goals and learning needs.
- Deliver both push-in and pull-out special education services.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to support student success.
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional collaboration activities.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
- LBS1 Endorsement required.
- Experience supporting students with learning disabilities and diverse learning needs preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to provide effective academic interventions in reading and mathematics.
Assignment Details:
- Full-time | 7.5 hours per day | 37.5 hours per week
- 41-week assignment
- School Year 2026–2027
