American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at a rural acute care hospital in Colorado, requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and active AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.

Rural acute care hospital setting with a combined L&D, postpartum, and mother-baby unit
-
Unit consists of 4 LDRP beds, 1 C-section OR suite, 2 triage beds, and 3 postpartum beds
-
Low-volume unit averaging 0–2 births per day (~200 per year)

Patient population includes laboring women, newborns, and gynecological surgical patients
-
Titration of drips required; Pitocin is the most common titratable drip
-
Charge nurse takes a patient assignment as one of two nurses on shift; no nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
-
OB physicians are on-call and not in-house — 20-minute response time after hours
-
Anesthesia is in-house during regular business hours and on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time
-
RT is requested for deliveries but not always available; pediatrician on-call may attend in their place

Respiratory equipment available includes bubble CPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula

12-hour night shifts, 6p–6a

Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday rotation)

Half of winter holidays required

No on-call or standby requirement

Floating to med/surg as a helping hand is required on rare occasions (traveler is first to float)

Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required

Must be trained and experienced in the LDRP care model

Must be able to triage and function as a baby catcher/transition nurse

Required certifications (all must be active; AHA-issued): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring — pending certifications not accepted

Epic EMR experience

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Valid driver's license required

Candidates must permanently reside more than 60 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Circulting C-sections or managing post-op GYN patients is not required for this role

Unit orientation is 3 days; clinicians must be on-site in Colorado for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely

Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines as closely as possible given the rural hospital setting

No scrub color requirement; scrubs are not provided by the facility
